About Plaza Speakers Toastmasters Club
Chartered in December 1990, Plaza Speakers Toastmasters Club offers participants the opportunity to develop and improve their public speaking competence through a variety of meeting roles ranging from giving prepared or impromptu speeches to serving as a timer, evaluator or grammarian. Each speech and meeting is evaluated by a member in a positive and constructive manner, focusing on areas that were performed well and what could be improved. Members also benefit from training seminars and speech contests offered by Toastmasters International.
Club History
With the vision to build people into more confident speakers, Mr. Rob Peck (Distinguished Toastmaster and retired Scotiabanker) started three Toastmasters clubs back in 1990 - Plaza Speakers, ScotiaMasters and Baystreet Breakfast.
These clubs were chartered in December 1990, although meetings already began in the summer of 1990. Plaza Speakers and ScotiaMasters were later amalgamated and had a succession of very dedicated Toastmasters members and executives who rebuilt the club to successive years of "Distinguished Club" status.
With 20 active club members currently, the Plaza Speakers Toastmasters Club continues going strong. Our members and guests are the heart and soul of every meeting and together, we strive towards speaking our way to success!
